Tyler DeMarco Foundation

In June 2006, nine year old Tyler DeMarco was diagnosed with, a type of brain tumor. Tyler became a patient of the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center under the St. Jude protocol for treatment of his cancer.  Courageously, Tyler underwent the delicate brain surgery necessary to remove the tumor, several weeks of physical therapy, six weeks of daily radiation, one year of aggressive chemotherapy and numerous blood transfusions.

Throughout his ordeal Tyler’s determination and positive attitude coupled with his outward expression of love and compassion influenced and inspired many lives. The community rallied in love and support.  After completing his treatments Tyler enjoyed eleven months of remission. Now, armed with the knowledge of cancer’s devastation, Tyler initiated his selfless goals and declared … “No kid should have to go through this!”

In March 2009 the cancer returned entering the spinal cord and other areas of the brain. Treatment options had run out until a frantic search discovered a newly opened “phase one” clinical trial being conducted at St. Jude in Memphis, TN. Tyler was immediately accepted. Sadly, after two months of treatment Tyler’s cancer continued to spread.  Tragically, Tyler passed eleven months later on February 23, 2010.

The mission of The Tyler DeMarco Foundation is to preserve the memory and fulfill the wishes of Tyler DeMarco by:

 - Funding cancer research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

 - Create, fund and maintain the Tyler DeMarco Foundation Endowment for “Journeys” Program  at the Children’s Hospital at

Albany Medical Center providing palliative care, latest treatment therapies and family centered medicine to pediatric

    cancer patients.

 - One of their missions was fulfilled in January 2015 with the completion of private hematology/oncology rooms designed for the     special needs of pediatric cancer patients at the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center.

The foundations mission is motivated by the unconditional love and compassion Tyler demonstrated throughout his short lifetime and through his selfless determination to make a difference for other children to follow. Childhood cancer may have ended Tyler’s life, but it will not end his legacy!

Tyler DeMarco Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) Tax-Exempt Nonprofit Public Charity operated and managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. No compensation or salaries are paid. 100% of all contributions/donations received go directly into the above goals set-forth and defined by their Mission.
